Need some help

hi i have a external hard drive i have been using for a while when I decided i would make it internal so I cracked open the case and took it out. i then connected everything inside my computer but when i booted up my computer the hard drive didn't appear under computer where all my other hard drive appears, but it appears under disk management. so now i don't know how to make it appear and i want to keep all of my data so i don't lose anything. any help?

Initalize the disk in Disk Management, assign it a drive letter, and Quick format the drive. It will then be ready to use.

Ive already initialized it. There's no option to assign a letter and i don't want to lose my data on it. is there any thing i can do?
