Hey all. I've been viewing TH for quite some time, and just wanna say you guys are very informative and know ur stuff :) But on to my question.

I have a server tower, and wanting to start moding it. Kinda overboard tho, cuz i'm trying to put as many fans/lights in it as i can. I know alot of you are gonna say "WTF?!? hax!" The case is just kinda for a joke and something to laugh at. Was thinking of mounting a house fan (probably either a 16", or maybe 3 9"s in triangle formation). And then maybe 2-3 120mm's on the top, and a 9" on the front.

I'm just curious about specifics, and how should I go about starting this. I have a few ideas in my head (start cuttin the siding, etc) butnot sure on mounting the fans, if I should throw pexiglass on the side, then put holes in that for the fans ??? any input/feedback would be great, thanx =)

A holesaw is your friend. Buy a few in sizes as close to fans as you can. Make sure you get the metal cutting hole saw. You will get nice 120mm, 80mm, etc holes every time :)
FrozenCPU.com carries 172x150mm 12v fans that move ~265cfm, a few of those would move more air than you would know what to do with.

Wicked fan :) only concern since the fans will be fun off my powersupply, I'm going to have to get a power supply dedicated to my fans, am i not? with those measurements,i'd look for about 6 of em, and maybe still a 9-12" house fan =) i'm talkin overkill people :)

fanless heatsink is already otw as well since this much vent. will most likely disturb the heatsink fan

Come on now.....dont do something over the top half assedly.......
Get a window AC and create a duct that seals all the cold air comming out and pumps it through vents into your rig and then another vent to run the cold air outside(for winter and in summer keep the AC from going outside to cool down your room)

Can't beat 40F ambient temps, there is a limit to what fans can do without lowering your ambient temps.

Hell, get a 3/4ton AC....that will cool down your entire house via your computer case.

You know, I kinda like the 5000btu Window A/C idea...
Might one day do it...you could run it on low for quite operation and duct it to it would be cool if some aluminum flex ducting was used...

This would work, and <A HREF="http://www.air-n-water.com/faq_venting.htm" target="_new"> duct the warm air out the window </A>
