i have about 400 dollars to buy a CPU, Ram, and a Mobo for a quick upgrade on my pc i plan on playing and streaming some games i play pubg, rust, arma, and other similar games.

what hdd or ssd as well. you will not get cpu mb and ram for 400 to go above what you have. I would look at other parts to upgrade first like ram and ssd.

I would look at a i7 4th gen processor to go with your current mb abd upgrade to a 512 or so ssd. find out what exact ram you have and try to find 2 more stick to go to 16gb. your gpu for what you have is fine. also you said pc mate is that the msi z97 mb?

correct it is the msi, the only thing is isn’t 4th gen outdated i’ve had my pc for quite a while

you can easily upgrade from what youre using for $400. improvements will be vast, also.

mobo - 100$
2x8 GB RAM @2400 or faster - 150$

thats only $350. also get a cheap SSD and youll be lightning compared to that old 4th gen. keep the 980gtx, im sure its held up. later, you can upgrade your R5 to an R7 if you feel the need. put that 128 GB SSD in there with OS and just one or two games you play a lot of and get another SSD/HDD with 256 or 512 (they are super cheap right now) for rest of docs, files, apps, other games.

youll be so much faster and better off.

dont waste your time upgrading that old mobo bro. ddr4 is where its at, it matters. the AM4 platform has a future and an upgrade path. youll only be able to take that set up so far and youll wish you hadnt in a years time.

i am on a tight budget to upgrade my pc i am currently on a 4th gen i5 z97 with ddr3 and a gtx 980 i plan to just upgrade mobo cpu and ram.... in that case i am planning to start streaming should i go with ryzen 5 2600 or an older intel processor possibly i7-6700k or i5-7600k

If you plan on streaming, more cores will benefit you, so ryzen 5 2600 would be the obvious choice.

Question from hwracine : "Which CPU would be a good entry level for streaming."

I am looking at ryzen cpus and i was wanting to stream games like rust etc... would i better off going with a Ryzen 5 2600 or Ryzen 7 1700 both of these processors are in my budget but which would be my best option.

R5-2600 or 2600X is now the 'go to' for entry level editing/rendering/gaming....if the 2700 is out of reach.

The 2600 is perfect for streaming. The boost in clock speed over the 1700 also makes it a better gamer.
