I was stupid. I was messing with the cables when I had the computer turned on, and somehow one of the molex connectors' metal circle thing hit the back of the motherboard and turned it off completely. It sparked too. Am I screwed?

Solution
FF is an issue with hardware. Or it could be a CPU problem or it could also mean its a grounding/shorting problem. So odds are that it is motherboard :(

Yeah, the motherboard's power indicator and LED lights come on, however the display does not show up. I am in the process of reseating everything right now.

I was messing around with the LED strip I got and connected it to a molex connector. Then the other molex that was connected to the same strip from the PSU hit the mobo.

Ok, worst case scenario is that it may have shorted a portion of the motherboard out. If that is the case and it does boot up after, you aren't completely out of the ballpark as the short COULD, i'm not saying it will, it could cause further damage down the line to other components. Don't feel bad man, everyone who builds has probably done it once or twice, me included. (glad it was an old computer we no longer needed that I did it to)

Well, it fails to start up completely. The board turns on, fans turn on, everything seems fine except for the fact that my display doesn't show up. Not even a BIOS screen.

Does it turn off?

Ok, are you using a stand alone graphics card or are you using integrated graphics? If its integrated, your display plugs into the I/O for the motherboard on the back just to clear that up.

Doesn't matter which he plugged the monitor into anyway. So long as he has integrated he would be fine and it should show something to matter what.

Yes. If I press on the power button on the case, it will turn off. I just reseated everything and it still isn't working.

@Rulejunior - I have a graphics card. I'm using that display. I haven't tried out the integrated display port yet, however.

EDIT: Integrated graphics doesn't work either.

I get the post code "FF". It's an MSI A88X-G45 GAMING motherboard. I might have to replace it through MSI..It's been less than a year since I've purchased it, but it's been longer than the 30 days to refund it through Newegg. Should I contact MSI directly?

Gah. And here I was thinking the whole time that I wouldn't open the LED strip until I got my new rig in February. >_> Should have listened to my gut. Thank you so much for your help. I will see if I can contact MSI tomorrow or something to figure out what's going on.

Let me know what happens. Just PM me. I am really curious
