I have a large network in my home with several PCs and gaming consoles connected . I have Xfinity internet and achieve connection speeds at 85 Mbps. I can achieve those speeds on my pcs and on my X1 (after port triggering to get an open Nat) using ethernet. The problem is, I can't get anything higher than 30 Mbps with my PS4s, whether wireless or ethernet. Does anyone actually know why?. I've tried several scenarios, including proxy server, and DMZ. Any intelligent help would be appreciated. Thanks

On the PS4, are you reporting 30Mbps from the built in 'speed test' or from some other speed test option (via the browser or an app?). The accuracy has historically been terrible via Sony's own 'speed test'.

Or, are you actually reporting these numbers as measured by a true download from the PSN?
There have long been rumors Sony actually "cap" download speeds from the network/store etc at 30Mbps, but I can't find anything concrete that actually proves it. Just a lot of rumors.

I'm going by PS4s Test connection status. My PS3 gets the same speeds. I've looked a lot on the internet and i don't think I've ran across anyone getting higher than 40.

PS3/PS4's own test connection status has been notoriously inaccurate. Can you run Speedtest.net from the PS4 browser?
Speedtest does require flash, but there is a beta version it will link you to that you can then test.

Again, Speedtest would give you a more accurate number (likely comparable with the desktops if all are ethernet), but there is a potential, rumored 'cap' from the PSN.

Ok, several test using the PS4 browser, results are:

Speed of Me.....20.02 Mbps
Testmy.net.....17.8 Mbps
Speedtest.net.UK.....76.88Mbps
DSLreports (using test for gigabit/fiber connection).....74.4 Mbps

it actually is getting a good speed but it is very hard to find out...lol

You can use a HTML5 test or Java test just not flash
