Question Need Suggestion on a System Can Play 4K at Max Settings

I'm really into the visual experience in games. I want to play on a 4K monitor. My current set up is 6 years old, so I need to upgrade anyway. I like to play 3rd person shooters and RPG's. There hasn't been a decent 1st person shooter to play in awhile, and I'm not a competitive Call of Duty player or anything like that. In fact, I hate Call of Duty. But I'd like to play a good 1st person shooter if one comes out worth playing. And, I want to play these games at max settings for the best overall visual experience. So, I'm looking for system advice. I'm not an overclocker, I have no interest in that. I'll need the works, MB, CPU, GPU, memory, whether I need a CPU cooler and what cooler if I do. The power I have now is a Toughpower 750W, but again, it's 6 years old even though it is holding up fine. My instinct is that I should upgrade that as well. I like my case, it's solid and large with fans in good operating condition. Obviously, I'll also need suggestions on a 4K monitor as well. Your help and clarifying questions are appreciated. Budget I'd like to stay within is $1,500 - $2,000, but if I can't game at 4K as desired, I can go above that range. Thank you!

No can do with that budget for 4K but can do at 1440P.

If you don't have a 4K monitor yet I'd look at a 1440P gaming monitor. Something like these for example.

I wondered about that too. I sit about 1.5' from my monitor, so I'm thinking 27" I don't want to be moving my head from side to side. Is there a marked difference between 1440p and 4K? I'm sure the 1440p looks pretty sweet compared to 1080p.

Can you help with building a 1440p system?

Wow, that's quite a bit of effort you put into that, and I really appreciate it. Thank you so much!! This is a HUGE help. It's been almost 6 years since I built my last PC, so this saved me a bunch of time. A few questions if you don't mind. Do you think it's worth the performance uptick to go with an i5 13600K? Or is it overkill based on how I told you I use my PC? Also, is the performance kick worth the extra $$ to go DDR5 as opposed to DDR4? Again, or is it overkill based on how I like to game? It sounds like I do want to go with the i5 though. If I can hit max settings on 1440P going the DDR4 route, I'll probably do that. I did a little research on the difference between DDR4 and DDR5, and there doesn't seem to be much at all, especially given the price difference. I can save some money on the drives because I can use the ones I have.

As for the MB. I like the features on the MB you chose. There are, however, a lot of bad reviews on the board. It seems to be hit or miss, but the price is nice for the features. Maybe you've seen better reviews. I use a premium set of headphones with a green and tan jack, I love them and I paid a lot for them. I didn't see on this MB that there's a dual jack like that for headphones. Did I miss it?

The reviews on Amazon are in regards to the Gigabyte B660 board ... no idea why they're posted on that board and most of those reviews are from peeps who didn't upgrade to the latest bios using a 13 gen cpu when they obviously could have used Q- Flash Plus for that.

In regards to gaming 13700F > 13600K/KF > 13400F with the biggest difference being between the i7 and the i5. At 1440P those differences greatly lesson as that resolution becomes more gpu dependent. Also the 13600K/KF is a cpu that overclocks and has a higher TDP (wattage) which means it's going to run hotter than the 13400F.

With DDR5 vs DDR4 .. not much of a difference atm.

That Gigabyte DDR5 board is meant for a 2 into 1 headphone setup. Example ...

The Gigabyte DDR4 board has that extra line in and line out you're looking for. But do not pair that board up with an i7 nor a unlocked i5 due to the VRM's.

These boards for an i7 with DDR4.

I have another question if you don't mind. Can I just transfer my SSD and HD to this motherboard and have it work? I've always started with new drives on a new build, so I have no idea.

You have said that you like your previous case and fans, can you please list them? along with your storage drives...

Could i interest you in 1440p ultrawide monitors? thats a good middle ground and offers immersive experience.

Since your rig is 6 years old, i am guessing you would want to keep the upgrades at a minimum? If so, i would suggest AM5 platform with 7900X3D cpu and 4070ti gpu.

$599 for 7900X3D or $449 for 7800X3D - april launch

MB: Asus TUG Gaming B760-Plus
CPU: i5-13400F
CPU Cooler: DeepCool AK400
MEM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600 (2x16G)
POW: Corsair RM850x 850 W
GPU: Asus TUG Gaming GeForce RTX 4070ti
SSD: Samsung Evo Plus 2TB
MON: Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ1A 27" 2450 x 1440

I feel really good about this build, can't wait to get started on it.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I decided to start fresh with a new SSD. I never thought about an ultra wide monitor. I don't want to have to look from side to side though, and I want to run 1440p graphics on ultra. Not sure I could do that with an ultra wide.

Wow, thats a nice board too. Is that new on the market? I ordered the Asus board already. It comes with Wi-Fi which I don't need, so that may be some of the extra cost on the Asus board. Plus I like the perceived synergy behind having an Asus Tuf Gaming MB, Asus TUF Gaming GPU, Asus TUF Gaming monitor. I don't know if that guarantees greater synergy, but there ya have it. Plus I really like the look of the TUF gaming stuff. The memory and the SSD match the color scheme as well. I think it's a sign.

The Asus board has better VRM's along with PCIe 5.0
