I am going to be building a desktop for gaming and 3d rendering. Any suggestions as what kinda processor , mother board and graphic cards would be best or at least pretty good?

CUDA base rendering or CPU rendering? what engine you've used?

  ■ Titan X Pascal scale down to GTX 1080 > GTX 980Ti > GTX 780Ti/ GTX 1070 > GTX 980 > GTX 780 for UHD 4K monitor. If you can find Titan X maxwell at the GTX 1080 price tag then go for it because you'll benefit extra CUDA cores for rendering.
  ■ X99 motherboard for triple Titan or GTX OR Z170 motherboard (with dual PCIEX16 slot) for dual, H170 or B150 or H110 for single.
  ■ Google for CPU GPU bottlenecking, my easiest way to ensure CPU won't bottleneck the GPU is by price tag, usually a $100 CPU could still level < $300 GPU.
