Hi,
Sorry for any newb questions, but I have little experience with upgrades to my gaming PC. I'm trying to decide whether it would be worth upgrading my current gaming PC or start shopping for a new one.
My current PC is about 5 years old and has the following specs:
AMD Athlon II X2 250
Mobo: 785GM-E65 / AMD 785G chipset
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4850
PSU: CoolMaster 460 RS-460-PSAR-J3 (Researched this and actual max output appears to be only 420W as opposed to the labeled 460W)
4GB RAM
I'm not a super avid gamer (thus the entry-level rig I have), so it's only seen moderate use, so it would be a shame to scrap it. It does look like my motherboard is suitable for current upgrades.
What I'm shooting for is an upgrade to at least 3.5GHz, 8GB of total RAM and a better graphics card.
One of the games I mainly play calls for the following specs for max settings:
Intel I5, I7 or equivalent AMD CPU around 3.5 GHZ Speed
8 GB RAM or more
NVIDIA GT700 SERIES, or equivalent ATI/AMD HD7000 SERIES VGA Card
Would it be worth upgrading my current machine and what components would you recommend?
Thanks for your help!
