Need suggestions on PC hardware upgrade

Hello, my current rig is as follows:

Intel core i3 3220, 3.2ghz
Asus Gtx 750 ti 2gb gddr5 oc
8gb of ram @ 1333mhz
550 watts power supply

Currently I have enough funds for a i7 3770 that I found on sale, or a gtx 960, or a gtx 970 if I'd sell my 750ti to a friend. Which of them should I choose? Or should I just save and wait till Christmas? a breakdown on why will be really helpful too.

Also suggest your own parts if you want.

while a gtx960 or 970 will give you much more fps than the i7 upgrade on the other hand, the i7 will be a good investment that will last a long time before you need to upgrade it and will push pretty much any gpu to its fullest potential. It will also help a lot if you play online games with 32+players.

thanks for the reply. I do game on my rig, but I want to try my hand in producing stuff. I want to try programs that involving 3d rendering and architecture for my college studies. I am currently drawing and sketching, then making time lapse for my drawings... and editing then rendering videos is painfully slow in my rig... So what would be more beneficial in that standpoint?
