I'm currently looking forward to upgrading and changing out some parts from my rig to run newer generation games, hopefully something that can run (for example) Skyrim with a bunch of graphics mods.
My current rig:
CPU: i5 3570k (running at 50-60C under load)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 2x4GB
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN3
GPU: GTX 560ti (running at 60-70C under load)
SSD: 128GB
HDD: WD Green 2TB
PSU: 850W
Case: Zalman Z9 Plus

I'm also running at 2560x1440 resolution.

I'm sure my GPU is somewhat out of date, but I'm not sure about the other parts. Any suggestions?

Get a new GPU (Look at the GTX 770 or 780)
SSd - got to 250gb if you wish
Hard drive, get a WD black drive. Move games onto that and videos, photos and files onto the green drive for increased performance.
Case: On a budget - Zalman Z11 plus is very nice and bigger more fans basically nice
Ram: 2x4gb (maybe 2x8)
Maybe upgrade CPU i7, look at a new motherboard.

Take what you want form that, I say new graphics card, more ram and new case would be the bes toptions, then take your pic from the rest of what you want to do

Also, CPU cooler, are you still using stock? Upgrade if you still are (412 from cooler master of one of corsairs water cooled H80 or higher range)

Have a good overall rig, with exception of the GPU as far as gaming goes, I'd look to upgrade that, then add a good cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO and OC your 3570K, if DRAM is 1333 might then think of an upgrade to 1866

Around 800-1000$

I forgot to mention that I do indeed have the Hyper 212 EVO for cooling, I just haven't got into OCing.
