Need the best processor my PC will support

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s5703w Desktop PC. According to the motherboard upgrade information I can use any of the following AM2+ processors. Please tell me which of these would be the best for gaming.

AMD Phenom II Quad-Core
AMD Phenom II Triple-Core
AMD Phenom Quad-Core (A) 9 series (AM2+)
AMD Phenom Triple-Core (T) 8 series (AM2+)
AMD Athlon x4
AMD Athlon x3
AMD Athlon x2 (B) (AM2+)

Phenom II Quad-Core but it's not gonna be the most powerful CPU for gaming..especially on an old AM2+ Socket.

gaming for what game? Just because its the best you can handle does not mean it will perform great in games. You might need to look at further upgrades.

Even the best AM2+ CPU doesn't meet the minimum requirements for some games. What CPU are you upgrading from?

The motherboard is M2N68-LA (Narra5), 64-bit OS

I am upgrading the memory to: a 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR2 PC2-6400 800 MHz 240 pin Non-ECC unbuffered.

I am upgrading the graphics card to: (PCI Express x16) GTX650 Graphic HDMI 2GB DDR5 128-bvit DVI PCI-E

I realize that Fallout 4 requires 4GB memory, but was hoping to still be able to play.

No, not really. The Phenom II X4 945 is an AM3 socket, the older Phenom II's for AM2+ socket are not as powerful.

With my limited motherboard. what cpu would you choose as the best upgrade all-around processor?

Phenom II quad core, but it still won't meet the minimum requirements of many of today's games. Don't dump too much money into that PC.
