Hi, guys, i'm a game developper, and i need to build a medium end hardware for testing purposes. so here's the stuff i need:

  • medium end CPU. brand doesn't mind, but Intel would be nice, as my developping rig is an AMD. but if AMD, it won't be a big deal (at all)
  • medium e. motherboard
  • 1070 equivalent (more or less). as i own an Nvidia, an AMD would be interesting, but not mandatory. 6 - 8 gig memory (video)
  • 16 gigs DDR
  • a 500 gig good HDD could be enough, as i already own an old 128 gigs SSD
  • a well ventilated case
  • a sufficient, and reliable PSU

this is a rig that will be used 3 - 4 hours per month so i don't need something with soft toy cats inside the case 😃. it could be parts, but i have nothing against a good HP, as i know the brand, and i'm confident with it. but the cheaper, the better

Thanks. i think i didn't forget anything

1000 bucks for a medium end. this is more or less what i paid for my 3900X rig. i was looking for something 500 - 600€ max with the GC. i really don't need high end stuff except for the PSU. in the rig above i don't need the ventilator, and a 3600 mem. this is far above requirements for medium end rig testing. same for SSD. i own one already. a basic HDD will be enough
also i buy from France, and i'm also an Amazon prime member incidentally

How did you get a 3900x build for $1k, pair it with the cheapest parts possible? You are not looking for a mid range build, you are looking at a low range build, with that kind of budget. 500 - 600€ is like starter build territory.

it's been a while since i didn't put my nose into hardware. but man, not so long ago you could build a very good rig for 600€. i'm talking of 4 - 5 years ago
my 3900X rig was (more or less)
  • CPU + MB (AMD X570 pro) + SSD 1 To (Crucial MX500) : 789,70€. was a pack offer
  • 32 gig G skill trident Z neo 3600: 209€
  • WCS H100: something like 60
and i already owned the GC, and the PSU i conceed. but i also sold my old (7700) rig for 300€ (last week)

so i repeat i need a medium-medium high end stuff, not low end, whatever the price. is that what you posted?

with the PD i managed to make myself a descent middle end rig for something like 500€

3600 , 189€
16 gigs Crucial Ballistic 3200 CL16 , sale of the day, got them for 50€
Corsair VS650 PSU , 60€
3.5" WD 500 Go , 26€ (will couple it to my old 128 Go SSD)
Corsair 110Q case , 65€. sober, and huge, will use it on my 3900X rig, and take my old Corsair 200R for the new stuff
Gigabyte GA-B450M-DS3H . (around 50€ with cumulated sales). has good reviews. originally made for 2nd gen ryzen, but allows 3rd gen (with good results on cpuuserbenchmark)
no GC. as i'll use it for testing on casual occasions, i'll use my actual 1070. if i really need it, i'll buy it, when the prices will have lowered a bit
