Ideally, I need to connect one more sata power cable to my Corsair RM750x but I'm out of 6-pin sata power ports. I ordered this (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DV1Z32Y/) 6-pin to 8 adapter cable hoping it would work. Unfortuantely, I didn't realize doesn't fit because two of the 8-pins are connected and the one squares needs to be domed.

I can jam the 6-pin power connector into one side of the 8-pin port, but because the clip is centered on both the clip doesn't really line up/fit nicely.

Is there another cable or adapter that could work? Should I just use the 6-pin connector in the 8-port?

Thanks

That is a PCI-E cable not SATA.

Ok, is there another cable available or can I just force the 6-pin cable into the 8-pin port? (Really the only thing that requires forcing is the clip)

You don't force anything.

Ok, thank you. That does make the most sense. Hopefully, I'll be able to the three to four 3.5" drives and an SSD off the one PSU port without issues?

Sata and molex also provides 3,3v and 5v where PCI-e does not. So if you need those voltages it's not possible to convert PCI-e to sata and molex.

What's hooked to sata and molex atm and where do you need more sata/molex for?
It's a truenas server with (16) 3.5" drives and a (17th) boot drive (SSD).

Just to make it clear and emphasized for future reference, *never* try to power a component from part of the power supply that goes to a different component. If you had successfully jammed the cable in there, you might no longer be the owner of whatever was to be connected to the other end.

And adapters are *never PSU side. Adapters are for the universal parts on the components themselves, not the proprietary ports of a modular power supply.
