Does your camcorder ... what ever make and model it is ... come with software to install on your PC?

If you cant find you software disk, then try download from manufacturer webpage.

How you do this depends on the type of camcorder it is.

If it is an older, analogue camcorder, you will need to connect it via the composite output (red, yellow and white plugs) to a video capture card. Most PCs don't have capture cards as standard, but you can purchase one.

If it is a tape based digital camcorder, you will need to capture this in Windows Movie Maker (or equivalent) via a firewire cable. Some PCs have a firewire socket, some don't. If it's a desktop PC you can install one, if it's a laptop your options are more limited.

If it's a flash or hard disk based digital camcorder, you can plug it in via USB.
