Need to find suitable RAM.

My current RAM works and I need something to dual channel with it.

I either need to find where to buy my current RAM from which seems to be discontinued and extremely hard to find:

AE34G1339U2 (4GB AMD entertainment edition UDIMM 1066/1333 MHz)

Or I need to find a piece of RAM which is close to a carbon copy of this or suitable for dual channel.

MOBO: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5G41TM_LX/
CPU : Intel (2) Q6600 Quad Core

Solution
Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.

A good place is ebay.

Fortunately, intel seems to be more tolerant of different ram, so your chances of functioning are good.
No guarantees, but look for ddr3 1333 ram, 1.5v, 9-9-9 timings.

Or... you can buy a supported 2 x 4gb kit...

If you want, you could try adding the current stick to see if 12gb will work.

That doesn't look like it will work as it's 1600 and my FSB is 1066 with my MOBO supporting 1333.

Wait, what? an LGA775 with DDR3? Nuts. Then again, the Q6600 is a beastly little chip that can OC well.

Matched kits are best, and the board supports 8GB max. Get yourself a matched pair of 4GB sticks from a reputable brand and you'll be good.

The motherboard does support ddr3. 8gb max.
My thought to try 12gb was wrong on two counts, 1. there are only 2 slots, and 2. 8gb is maximum.

1600 speed ram will run at lower speeds like 1333 or 1066 to allow one to get into the bios to set ram speeds higher.

If I purchased a single 8GB stick (because I may want to make it 16GB in future) what stick should work on my system? My FSB is 1066MHz and MOBO supports up to 1333MHz. I would like a RAM that can downclock so in future I can have a decent speed when I upgrade the CPU.

I would not.
Adding a second 8gb stick in the future may well put you in the exact same situation as now.
A single stick will run in slower single channel mode vs. dual channel with 2 sticks.
And... you motherboard supports a max of 8gb.
Whenever you upgrade, your needs for ram may well change any you might be looking for DDR4 anyway.
Buy any 2 x 4gb kit that is compatible with your motherboard. Speed differences in real app performance differs by about 2% between fast ram and slow ram assuming you are not using integrated graphics.
Check a ram vendors selection app to insure compatibility.
Sometimes ram with identical specs will have different underlying construction that makes it incompatible with some motherboards.

Do you know of any kits that would work specifically with my situation?
