Need to hook up desk Top PC to redundant LCD, flat screen, HDMI/SKART sockets TV.What do I need?

Want to use redundant, flat screen, LCD TV as a monitor to run from Desk Top (windows 7) PC fitted with one VGA to Monitor socket. Have tried one cable adaptor VGA to HDMI connected to AV1 or AV2. Nothing!
Reading blogs only seems to confuse matters, especially as have read there is no 'converter' from VGA to HDMI. What do I need? Another Video card with HDMI connector?

Just use your hdmi lead to graphic card and tv that's it if you do that you will also get sound through your tv or buy a vga to vga connector if your tv has one which it should do but hdmi much better quality, also you will have to m,ess around with your resolution though wen using hdmi
