Need to improve WiFi in house. Have extra router for access point. How do i accomplish this?

Current router: Ac66R. Connected to modem, and connecting two desktops.
Available router: TM-AC1900 from t-mobile. Never used before. Mailed to be for the intention of using as "cellspot"

I've googled around and still a tad confused on how to complete the setup

that seems so simple, easy as that? no other settings to change? SSID?

BAsically, yes. Easy as that.
Same SSID or different. Either way.

The main issue is that your systems don't want to give up a working connection easily, even if you wander upstairs where it is stronger from the other one.
It will eventually switch over, but not as seamlesly as you'd like.

So when im connecting my new access point router directly to my computer, is this temporarily to change settings? Or permanent? Im confused: it says connect new router to computer only via network cable. Then the last step says connect one of the 4 LAN ports of AP to Main router....how about the connection to the computer in the previous step, undo it?

Yes, that is just to change the settings on the second router.

As said, your devices won't want to give up a current connection, even if there is a stronger one at this particular moment.
