OOPS - I messed up something. I've been having trouble
with my Win 98 OS and have been infilitrated with some
type of virus that seems to take over my Browser. While
trying to get rid of virus/parasite, it seems I deleted
something that is now making me run in Safe Mode. I had
already planned to do a full install with Win 2000, but
haven't purchased the software yet. I currently have 2
hard drives, so I'm backing up everything from my C drive
to my D drive. HOWEVER, it seems that the CD-ROM drive is
not being recognized..... If I do a full install, will the
CD drive work? Will it be recognized? OR do I have to
reinstall the CD R/W software? Can I reinstall CD R/W
Software in Safe Mode

I appreciate any help you can provide !

Thanks

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000
CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.
