[SOLVED] need to know how to copy a hard disk to another one

Hello ,
my laptop has an SSD which is disk C and it contains the OS
and an HDD which is disk D and it contains some programs and stuff

what i want to do is i want to copy the stuff from disk D (the HDD) to a new SSD i have

i have no idea how to do this and tried to google it a lot and all i found was tutorials on how to clone the main drive with the OS and stuff which is not what i need.

any help would be much appreciated

Can't you just install the new SSD and copy the files from the HDD to the new SSD since the OS is not what you want to copy anyway?

Hello , do you mean i just select everything on the HDD and just copy/paste it to the SSD?
would that work? i mean i have programs installed on the HDD would they work just fine if i just copy/paste them like that?

Can't move programs like that. You will have to reinstall them on the SSD. I just meant normal files and not programs.

but i was wondering if there is like any way to just clone everything from the HDD to the new SSD without the need to reinstall everything. just like if i was cloning the system's drive?

If the new SSD is same size or bigger, you can clone HDD over to SSD, in the same way you'd clone system drive.

Install new SSD & start copying from HDD to SSD. By this, you can successfully copy the file.
