Hello everybody I just bought a laptop from the pawnshop with a gtx 460m in it for 120$ and its pretty terrible. The model is the toshiba qosmio x505 q896. I was wondering if i could upgrade the card with something like a 940mx or a 950 mobile if possible so I could get better frames in games.
I also need to know where to get the standalone graphics cards for laptops.
Cause currently im getting like 30 to 40 fps on fallout 4 at 720p lowest settings.

I have an old hd 6850 that I dont use ever since I've upgraded my main rig to an RX 480. I was planning to give this laptop to my cousin for gaming. I know that if I do this I would loose wireless functionality thats fine I can use a little usb dongle.

I have used a dell 7110 with exp gdc, 525m onboard and 750ti external. You have to jump through hoops to make it work. The bios of name brand laptops have a white-list that refuse to boot. I have to boot the dell with the cable only, then close the lid to put the laptop to sleep. Then connect the cable to the exp gdc, and open the lid. Then there are resource conflicts. And addressable space issues. BIOS hacking to set a feature for the port, It is not plug and play.
