insurance company with 100,000 customers nationwide, has 5,00 employees and 2,000 of them are field agents with their own offices. sell life, auto, home insurance. what is the best computer hardware available?

Solution
Best in terms of what? You have given zero specs except the number of employees. If you don't have any guidelines or know what kind of hardware you should need for this type of job, and you are trying to put all this together, you may be out of your league.

For 5,000 employees in many different roles, there would be many different PC configurations.

What are they using now? What does the IT dept think? What does the CIO think?

If you've come here asking this, you probably shouldn't be the one asking the question.

Well technically the best hardware is dependent on the software that you are planning to use on these systems. If this is just standard office software that does almost nothing 99% of the time a low power solution like AMD's Jaguar based Athlon 5350 might be a good base for those computers. As it would save you in electric costs over the ~5000 computers that would be needed for the employees.

Other thoughts are do the field agents need computers (Maybe Tablets with wireless Cellular Data connectivity). And does your software allow for iOS/Android or would they need to be Windows x86 based tablets?
