I am in need of some guidance on how to limit bandwidth between several devices in my home. I have a 45MB down connection. I have my ASUS RT-AC66U (AC1750) Router hooked up through my ATT Modem/Router because my Router has better range and can support more devices. Currently I have my main SSID setup to where the 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz band are the same name & password as well as them both being hidden networks. I also have a Guest account for people that come over and need internet access. The Guest account has its own name that I created and also is password protected. If I knew how to hide that SSID I would have done so. Anyway, I want my main SSID to carry most of the bandwidth as I do a lot of my work online as well as my gaming and streaming movies to my SmartTV downstairs. It seems as though when I have people on the Guest network that they end up using quite a bit of my bandwidth and it is hard for me to game or stream movies while they are on it. Any help would be much appreciated. I have been considering just getting a newer, more powerful router, but I am not sure if that would fix the issue.

I dont know if I understand you correctly but you want to limit the bandwidth that your guests use?

What I did at my house is I bought this TP- Link Router

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FWYGJS

and TP- Link Routers have this amazing Bandwidth control feautre were you can limit the bandwidth on an ip-range that you define.

So how I have it in my house is that, I have this router (its the router that everyone connects to) in the living room connected to my ISP modem(modem with wifi on but thats exclusively for my room use) and I set the router DHCP to give IP's in the range of 192.168.0.100-200 (never going to have more than 100 guests lol) and then you set a rule that ALL devices in that range have a max bandwidith of 7 mbps or (700...
your router blows your internet connection out of the water. and besides some programs that allow you to set a download rate theres no way to use less of your internet bandwidth besides.....well not using it. turn streaming shows to sd etc. or tell them to get off.

Worked really good for me. Thats why I love TP-Link Routers all of them have that feature.

obviously you can buy a better TP-Link Router 5ghz WIFI AC and stuff like that, and it will come with that feature.

I would try a 3rd-party firmware like Tomato by Shibby if you want to limit bandwidth between devices or applications. Bandwidth Limiter & Quality of Service (QoS) comes into mind. It has been designed for your ASUS RT-AC66U router. Google it.
