Need to make sure what I can upgrade to without replacing current.

I'm currently not 100% sure what RAM I have right now. DDR3 and Kingston I know for sure. I want to upgrade from 8 to 16. What do I need to know to know what I can upgrade to?

You need to know how many RAM slots you have in your motherboard and your exact current RAM.

Yep, CPU-Z (free app) can get CPU, mobo and current DRAM which is the info needed

I have 4 slots currently and 2 in use. I can provide the CPU-Z specs in about 4 hours or so. I just have 2 DDR3 Kingston sticks of ram now, if I had the money I would just get 16 GB of G.SKILL Ripjaw as I know those have a reputation. Perhaps later if I run into issues with my current ram, I've had it for a while.

If you guys think it would be best to sell my current 8 gb and get 16 of, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 for instance let me know. I don't know if it is needed right now though.

What is the upgrade for? If it's for gaming, 8GB is enough for any game out there.
