Need to OC to make RAM work at stock 1600

Hello

I am getting an upgrade for my system that will require some OC to work properly.
Specs:
M4A785TD-V EVO
Phenom II X6 1100T BE/Phenom II X4 965 BE (don't have either yet, very hard to find in Bulgaria, so I am relying on ebay.de)
CPU cooling: sealed liquid cooler (the heatsink is sandwiched between two fans, I think It's a CoolerMaster, but I can't be more specific )
2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance 1600 Dual Channel
850w Avenge Power PSU
Sapphire 7870 Ghz Edition 2gb

The mobo and CPU limit my RAM to 1333hz without OC, so any advice how to go about it?

The 2 CPUs you are considering are unlocked multiplier CPUs and can be overclocked simply by increasing the multiplier and the CPU voltage to stabilize the increased multiplier, the simplest overclocking you could ask for.

However overclocking the CPU memory controller past 1333mhz will create instability that no amount of CPU voltage may be able to solve and force unnecessary heat under load which will limit how far you can overclock the multiplier.

I do not recommend overclocking the memory past the design specs for these CPU platforms, you a need rock solid memory performance foundation to overclock from.

I picked BE on purpose, hoping that both FSB and multiplier clock will somehow even things out(the MOBO supports up to DDR3 1800 with OC). Since I really liked to have my RAM work at stock value I dug around some more on the webs and stumbled across a forum topic regarding the same issue - Phenom II 965 and 1600 RAM, the people in the thread suggested using multiplier only for the CPU and manually configuring RAM in BIOS to work with stock specs. Is that doable? Will it work? (not sure if linking another forum threads here is allowed.)

The MOBO may support up to DDR3 1800 The CPU memory controller does not!
