need to relocate my desktop no phone jack in new location

i have an at&T router It has wifi so that is great for my laptop and tablets..BUT my deskttop computer has to sit on top of my kitchen counter next to the router and phone jack --- please help i need to relocate my desktop to my computer desk in the next room but there is no phone jack in new location - ..

Something like you have above works or you can create an what is called an access point by converting a router into a wireless access point that extends the signal of your att wifi router. Here's a diagram:

You have to plug it into a computer with an ethernet cable, open your web browse and type in 192.168.1.1 and configure it from there to become an AP (access point) or else it will not work. The details of the actual steps beyond that are too numerous so you must either research those details based on the router brand and model if this is the direction you go. Similar steps will be required from the linked ap above so either way you must learn how to configure it or have a more knowledgeable friend do it for you.

Assuming you go wireless then you must also have an adapter like this connected to your pc:

Otherwise you will need a very long ethernet cable to directly connect your pc.
 
Solution
You are going to have to leave the router where it is if there is no phone jack in the new room to plug the router into. You best bet is to get wireless device for your desktop. They make internal cards as well as USB devices. The USB ones will be simpler to install
