Hi guys,

My lad pc keeps freezing on any game he plays from,

Call of duty,
Grounded
Fortnite
And rocket league.

The only way I can stop it from crashing is to bring down the max frequency to -15 then it works fine.

Build is

Gpu - 5700xt
Cpu - ryzen 5 3600
Mobo - b450
Psu - 750 cx corsair
Memory 2x8 3200hz

All new parts since Christmas ,

I feel it should be able play all games without crashing

Solution

Launch gpu z, go to the sensor tab, and click TWICE on gpu temp, gpu temp hot spot and gpu powe draw, then launch the benchmark and see what temps he has.

Also yes, what sizzling suggested might be a good idea even before doing that, so doing a clean install of the graphic's drivers.

Could be a temperature or a faulty psu issue, since downclocking reduces both temperatures and power draw. Can he run a benchmark to see what the temps are? Does the game alone crashes or he gets like a blue screen of death and he has to hard restart his pc?
