Help! No internet connections available due to no updated drivers thus no network adaptor etc. boyfriend THOUGHT he knew what he was doing. Tried using personal hotspot via iPad. Still no go network adaptor. Any ideas?

Solution
This happened how? New Windows setup? You can download the drivers for the system on another computer and install them on this one. If it's a new Windows setup you'd want to install the chipset drivers, video, audio, power management, probably a few others.

You could roll back the driver to its previous version from the hardware properties.
Otherwise should have some kind of installation cd/dvd available, even with the older driver you will get the network connected.

Yes thank you he did a "clean install" of windows 7 home premium. I have been able to generate a list of all the missing drivers. Just wanting confirmation that I can download on 2nd computer and install on this one. I think start with network adapter? Or chipset drivers? This is an HP dv7 intel i7

Chipset first then the rest of the drivers. Some systems have a utility from the vendor that will install all the drivers for you. You can install the chipset and then network drivers, head to HP support site and click on "Scan now", it should gather up info about your system and help you get everything installed.

Thank you for guidance! I've gotten all the various drivers, chipsets, BIOs, etc (40) downloaded and burned to cd DVD ( files were so large, required 2) from HP support site. Also ordered recovery set...just in case someone gets the bright idea to "clean up" my computers again!! Yes plural! 2hp pavillion dv7's one AMD processors & one intel processors. Plus, he thinks I'm wrong about them being missing!! Says just configured wrong?! Really?! Cause my USB ports don't even work! sorry venting abit! I'm just lucky I understand enough ask for help & importantly recognize sound guidance!!

Thanks Guys!

Any further advice prior to my install of these drivers etc?!

You can use a disk cloning program to setup images of the hard drive once they are setup.
Good idea if you need to go back to bare metal again so you don't have to go though Windows and driver installation again.

Install all the programs and drivers, once it's working, create a bootable external hard drive with a cloning program, use that to make an image of the computer. If you even need to wipe it again, use that program to dump the image on the system in one step.

Keep backups of you files as well so you can copy them back after a re-image, My Documents, Favorites and Desktop are the main ones, also any email files you have from your email program (Outlook uses PST files, others will have different ones). If you use Firefox, export those favorites and save them as well.
