Hello Tom's Hardware community!

I am a newbie computer person so I need a little suggestive help because my graphics card just recently died on me. I don't play video games but I love to do video editing with large HD video files etc....

A friend of mine put my PC together for me (2008?) but I lost contact with him.

What graphics card would be a good upgrade replacement that would drop right in.

Here is the parts list he put in there for me.

GPUs are pretty pricey right now. A GTX1050 2GB would be some improvement and it is about 150.00 right now. A GTX1050ti with 4GB would be a big improvement, but you are looking at 250.00 or more right now. Crappy farmers has the prices through the roof. It looked like it was going to be getter for a bit, but then it spiked again.

If you aren't opposed to buying a used card, you might check Ebay. I have seen a few of the 1050ti units there for 200.00. Pay with Paypal, if you get it and it doesn't work, Paypal will ensure you get your money back. If it works, then you got a better deal than buying it brand new.

Hello Bo Lee,

Thank you so much for your suggestions. Since I'm replacing the card and it's been a few years since I had this computer built, I
figured there must be a lot of "up-gradable" options, I just don't have any idea what will easily drop in and work etc.........

I did want to try an option that would be an upgrade, and it looks like that - GTX1050ti with 4GB - you suggested is pretty much spot on
as what I am looking for. (I also had a estimated price point of approximately $300 ish for the card too)

1- Is this the exact one you're suggesting? - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814487290 (Single Fan) - $239.99
&
2- will this drop in and work easily with the specs I have in my PC?

Thanks again !!!
