I need to upgrade the power supply in my HP Pavilion 550-110. The current one is 180watts. I want to get a rx 560 2gb and I dont trust the psu to handle it. I think the psu is micro atx? I dont need anything crazy maybe like 300watts. Anything cheap and trustworthy is great as I dont have alot of extra money to spend.

Solution
First, 300W is not crazy for a PSU, 1300W is getting close to crazy but still not there. A 180W PSU is about as small as you can get and 300W is typically considered the minimum to run a discrete video card. But the good news is that a 300W or more can be had at a low dollar.

But first we need to determine what size the PSU is and what connectors are needed. HP has a tendency to make proprietary shapes and configurations which make aftermarket replacement difficult. Micro ATX is not a form factor for PSU's.

If you could open the case and find the PSU part number on the label that would firm up what it is. From there we can determine what...

In looking on the web I suspect that it is this one. This is standard ATX with 4-pin and 24-pin mobo connectors.
