I have a Almond Touch Screen Wireless N Router + Range Extender. I would like to use it while doing training around the country and since I can not rely on conference halls having the proper internet connections I need to be able to use my iPhone Hotspot. When hooking it up everything goes smoothly until it begins to search for my particular hotspot. No matter what I do it always gives me an error message saying it can not locate my phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is a range extender..ie wireless repeater uses a function called WDS to accomplish this. This is not a actual part of the wireless standards and just happens to work because manufactures have all implemented it in the same way.

Apple iphones do not support WDS...at least they didn't a few models ago. Now some people say apple doesn't support it because they did not want to be non compliant with the wifi standard and others say it is just one of those apple things where they are the apple god and can dictate if you need things or not.

In most cases if you look at the network list with a pc you will see if the wifi you want to connect to supports WDS...be aware this is not WPS.

Even many android phones running in hotspot mode do not support WDS. In these cases the carrier who is providing the network service to the phone decided they did not want to support it and disabled the feature.

There is no simple solution. What you need is a device that can act as a router and have it wan port get signal via wifi and still provide lan service via a different wifi. In most cases you need 2 independent radios in the device to accomplish this. The router function is hiding the multiple devices sharing the connection.
