looking for a Tv tuner that supports Windows 7 64bit OS
I am using the Silicon Dust HdHomerun HDHR3-US (two tuners) on my home network with a dedicated Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit PC and Windows Media Center. My router is located right behind my main 50" plasma TV and is connected via Cat5e cable to the cable modem across the room. The HDHR3 is plugged into a router port as is the dedicated PC.
With this set up I can:
Record two shows while watching a third live show using the TV's built in tuner.
Record two shows and watch a third recorded TV show.
Record two shows while playing music from the PC and showing a picture slide show, or do whatever I wish with the PC.
The sensitivity of the HDHR3 tuners measures exactly equivalent to the Samsung plasma's built in tuner. Reception of 15 channels (Fort Myers Beach, FL) is flawless using a Winegard HD7694 roof mounted HD antenna and a Winegard AP-8700 mast mounted preamplifier (I love Winegard products).
A bonus of the HDHomerun tuners is that every PC in your house becomes a TV using the simple Silicon Dust software or Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center.
I have had this setup running since August with no problem. I do get a few dropped frames once in a while, not frequently. Don't know if it's from the TV signal or the setup. Mainly, however, performance is wonderful and, with an $8 a month Netflix subscription I have more TV than I could ever watch and I no longer have to frequently utter profanities about the DirecTV people.
