Need Video Card for 3 monitors

Hi guys,

I have an Asus P5QL/EPU motherboard. I would like to purchase a video card that will allow me to use 3 monitors with 1 hdmi & 2 dvi ports. I do not want to use any display ports.

My current video card is an amd radeon hd 6800 series. But i have problems with it when I try using 3 monitors.

I only do gaming like FIFA 16 on one screen.

I can only fit a video card with max 28 cm length.

Can you suggest me any video cards in the $200-250 price range?

R9 280x is within your budget, offers 1xHDMI+2DVI ports and there are modells which fit in your case. (MSI/Gigabyte)

Maybe take a look at that card.

The 960 is the Nvidia equivalent to the R9 280x but i think it only has one DVI port.
Some 970s offer 1hmdi+2dvi but these are a bit over your budget (around 300€) Maybe you're able to find a 970 on sale or something like that. Other than that i cant really help im not that familiar with AMD cards.

You need an ACTIVE! DisplayPort to DVI or HDMI adapter if you want to use an AMD card, because there is NO AMD card that can handle 3 displays like that. One of them must be connected to a DP output.
You can get an adapter on ebay for $15.

If you decide to get an nVidia card, you can use either output just as you desire.
So you are good to go if you find a 960 with 3 HDMI/DVI in total.
You can convert HDMI to DVI or the other way with a cheap passive cable or adapter so that's not an issue.

The R9 285 allows you to use all 3 monitors even without DP. I was able to get mine running with 1 HDMI and 2 DVI connections, and it's fairly comparable to the 280x in real-world situations that benchmarks don't properly show, even with only 2GB of VRAM because it handles it's memory better.

This is simply not true. As I said, I've used my R9 285 with a triple monitor personally without display port. I believe this is also true for the 290 and 290x, and presumably the R9 3xx cards as well, but I'm not sure.

My Palit 960 has 2x DVI ports 1x HDMI and a DP and is comparable with the R9 380 in performance but uses a lot less power.
