Need Visual Diagnosis of a possible problem with BIOS chip on Asus MOBO...

My mobo's BIOS chip-set area has an 8-pin chip with what looks like a "Burnt" or "shorted out" speck... but when you look closely, it jst looks like wax was dripped on it? is this normal for asus mobos or no? pls help...

If you say wax, can it be scratched off? Is the surface of that area textured as if it did melt?

If it can't be scratched off and is textured other than the same feeling as the rest of the chip it very well may be burned up.

That mark is use to determinate the position of the components on the board, normally that mark indicates pin 1 of the chip, if you take a closer look you will find a lot of components in your MOBO with similar marking.

Take a look at your TPU chip, is haze the same marking, only different is there is not ¨paint on it

Update... Its not wax, tried carefully scraping it off... nothing...

But i did notice that amazons photos show a similar speck??

Its just my original photo (My Mobo), at first inspection it looks really horrible (Burnt right out). Are you saying you have personally "seen" and "encountered" such chip markings that look so hideous? lol

And burnt right out???? I can see in your picture, take out your side window and provide a better picture please.

Awesome, well thx for your input .. not to be annoying, just curious and redundant... would manufactures sometimes not mark the same series boards or components.. cause here is a different picture from amazon not showing a "Speck"

All it is CL8N2DO,

Is a marker put on a chip for the solder leg where through manual or visual inspection where there is a potential weak, or improper solder joint.

and it is touched by a manual solderer as part of quality control testing.
There`s nothing more to it, the board is wave floated over a solder tin bath.
Then manually checked by a worker as said doing touch up work to the board before it is packaged, and shipped as part of QC.
