Need your help to decide on new system components

Hey. I was going thru many posts and articles but more i read more i get confused and undecided. I will use some parts from my curent gaming pc witch is:

1. MSI NX8800GTS 512M OC (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

2.Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10000 RPM SATA

3.OS Vista 64-bit
4. 750-W PS
Rest is outdated and need to be repleaced (amd4400+ ,2gb ddr memory and old asus Mb)

This will be gaming Pc i dont know much about OC but definitly will like to do some. SLI its something i consider last , But if u guys think another Msi gtc oc 512 will do the trick feel free to let me know(after all$160 is not a fortune)

why 750w? what mobo? what cpu? - that old stuff? why the newstuff?


velociraptor is waste of $300 get 2x drives in raid0 or even 2 raptors in raid0

velocipors make good sence for $5000 pc for raid, $300 hard drives on a mid-low gamer is dumb

velociraptor is on the way i got it from newegg, Power suply i just upgreated like 2 months ego to 750 w . Raid 0 ? well you still got slow acces time with it plus you need raid controler (one on Mb suck , most of them any way) i know evry one talking about Raid 0 but is it realy theat great? More heat , more noise , biger risk that something go wrong with hd slower acces time then velociraptor and you dont gain that much in my opinion.
Returning to my question i will like you guys to recomend me MB .CPU and Ram

why 8800gts if you can buy 4850 or 4870

Check the benchmarks in this article and see just how effective a 8800GT was in SLI. With your 8800GTS 512 you'd have even bigger payoffs.

To answer your question th_username i aready have 8800gts on my old system.

dirtmountain tx looks like good combination and Sli give good "kick" to fps
but my understanding is that all Mb with 780 chipset are bad OC. Once agein i am nood in the OC area but was thinking will be nice to crank it my system a bit

How much are you looking to spend on your CPU/MB/RAM?

I'd go with 4GB.

I'd think a e8400 or 8500 for the cpu. Maybe quad core with a q9450 but it all depends on the budget.

Also for the Mobo, if you want SLI you'd have to go with an Nvidia chipset, if not I'd go with a P45 board.

yea i was thinking of 4 gb ram for now .
Witch nvidia chip set is beter for oc? (i know they are not OC friendly) . With cpu ,corect me if i am wrong 8400 is excelent Oc so it will work great with P45 Mb . q9450 will be beter for sli MB cuz is less oc friendly like SLI Mb right? What about Ram witch one? ddr3 ?ddr2? price is not that big of the deal if i go with ddr2? 20-40 $ difrence From what i heard ddr3 its just waste of money now.
