My old pentium 4 system went dead yesterday and now I want to assemble a new one using the existing hdd case and psu. Since I won't be adding a gpu anytime soon I was thinking about an apu how does these look
Amd a8 6600k
Msi A78M-E35 motherboard
Kingston HyperX Fury 4gb 1866Mhz
My psu is Cooler Master RS-400-PSAR-J3 400W
is this a good build. I would be using it for some light gaming on 720p monitor

I prefer asrock for low price boards just from personal good experiences though, I have not used msi boards either sorry, get the 1866 ram and you can upgrade with another stick at a later date.
Run similar setup for near a year, it was fine for everything, I was impressed going from an old system like your own. I will say though I got close to double the benchmark performance on gpu going from 4gb single channel to 8gb dual channel ram so you might want 2x4gb sticks and 64bit os.

thanks for the reply. I don't have the budget for 8 gb ram right now so which one would be better, Kingston 4gb 1866Mhz or corsair vengeance 4gb 1600Mhz? Also what do you think of msi motherboard, I haven't used this brand before.
