I’m trying to find new pc components because i want to keep up with games mostly in 1080p but my pc needs new components and i don’t know what. The games can go good amount of fps and fairly good graphics but the cpu usage will go very high(roughly 90-100%) and end up freezing my pc. So if anyone can assist me of finding new components that would be appreciated a lot.

My PC Specs:
Version: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Display: SAMSUNG (TV) 1920x1080@60Hz
GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3gb
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. F2A78M-HD2 (PO)
CPU: AMD A8-7600, Kaveri 28nm Technology
RAM: 16Gb of RAM Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798 MHz

Not sure what else to say but tell me and I’ll response as quick as i can.

Depends on the specific i5 CPU you get; different generations of i5 processors will require different motherboards to work. If newer i5 then you'd require DDR4 RAM; with older i5s you could reuse your current RAM.

As an observation, Intel's processors don't really seem to change much in pricing. May want to consider a used CPU.

The first generation of Ryzen CPUs have dipped in price, which may be worth considering (will require new motherboard and RAM though).
A proper update would set you back about $350 for an intel 8400/Z370 and 2 x 4GB DDR4 ram and on the Ryzen side around $300 for a 2600 and this would make a big difference over your current setup..

If you can stretch to 16GB as in 2 X 8GB you would add about $70....giving you an overall better build

The intel side would be a bit better and I would definitely go the Z370 route as you can upgrade to the 8 core 9000 series like the 9700K and 9800K in the future on Z370.

I am assuming you have the other bits including a 500 + Watt power supply...And the GTX 1060 is very good and both Ryzen and the 8400 will make better use of it..

PS I would factor in a SSD as that will make a huge difference and they are very cheap now for a 120GB or 240GB as a boot drive.

The problem is your motherboard doesn't support anything worth buying as far as CPU is concerned. And CPU is your weakpoint.

So this mean buying a new motherboard, in addition to the CPU...but wait, there's more! You'll need DDR4 system ram too, and that stuff is a bit expensive right now. You could get 8gb now, and upgrade to 16gb later when/if it costs less.

The other alternative is buying an older Intel system that has something like an i5 2400 or better in it and adding in your videocard. You'll get much, much better performance than you're getting now. The downside is you'd be spending money on older tech, and pre-built computers can have various annoying quirks about them. I really recommend buying new if possible.

I’m not wanting to spend all of my money on my pc and also not spend any of my money immediately, i’m most likely going to wait to see if i can find parts that’s cheap and dated. I was thinking of buying an intel i5 processor but seeing you talking about a new motherboard, what one should i get if i’m getting my hands on a intel i5?
