I have the asus p8h61-m lx and the intel i5 3450 and i need to know hw to get the bios to support the cpu. i need the new bios download and instructions on how to flash it on the board. please help

Solution
According to the manufacturer's website, the BIOS required is 3605 -- https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61M_LX/HelpDesk_CPU/ That BIOS was released in 2012 and the latest BIOS in 2014 -- https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61M_LX/HelpDesk_BIOS/ BUT, unless you have a working CPU that will tell you what BIOS you have there is no way to update the BIOS. I assumed you had a functioning system and were upgrading. But from your later post that may not be the case. There is no way to determine if you need a BIOS update or not.

the board only supports a sandy bridge cpu and not ivy bridge cpu as the 3450 is. Every time i try to boot the pc it doesnt load the bios or even tries to boot the os.

I ha dbought the mobo and the i5 but learned after the fact about the problem. But i have a celeron that is supported by the bios on the way(G540 to be exact) and if it helps the chipset on the mobo i believe is H61 if it helps. But the main problem is when I'd boot the pc the screen would not turn on, all of the fans would work but at what im guessing is a lower rpm, and the HDD light would blink a red color. And from what i have read those problems are caused but a cpu not being supported by the bios.

And thank you for the links. Now all i need to know is how to flash it.
