I'm finally upgrading my old Q6600 Frankenbuild from 2008, and have some part compatibility issues.

Here's my parts list so far https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Applenet/saved/#view=kTyK8d and Rosewill RCX-z4 cooler, not in list

The CPU, RAM and Mobo are new, the rest are being scavenged from the old build.

Issues are, old case fan connectors are 3 pin, mobo needs 4 pin. ATX_13V_2x4 connector is 8 pin, I have 2x4 pin connectors but not sure if that's compatible (they fit but haven't checked polarity/voltage yet). Rosewill cooler connectors not compatible.

Looks like I'm going to have to replace the case & cooler but do I also have to replace the PSU for the 8 pin connector? Is it a bas idea t replace just the case fans?

Please advise on an adequate case, and cooler, and if required a PSU. I prefer a low price to flashy look.

Can you see the next issue I'm about to run into?

TIA

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado. Budget: Minimal but adequate. I don't upgrade often, so am happy to spend on quality, but am not an advanced user. Use: Lightroom, Photoshop & general. Peripherals required: none. OS:: Win 10 home

Solution
1. No you don't need 4 pin fans. Read your MoBo manual (download it), The CPU fan header is usally PWM, the rest are dial usage, in most cases auto-select.

2. Is this a gaming build ? If it is and budget is an issue, save $73 and get the 6600k

3. I wouldn't bother keeping the cooler ... it's performance rating is terrible.

4. The PSU must provide what the MoBo needs. It has:

1 x 22" cable for main 20+4-pin ATX connector
1 x 22" cable for 2/4-pin 12V AUX12V
2 x 24" cable for 6/8-pin PCIe connector - for the latest most power hungry graphics cards
2 x 37" cable with four 4-pin IDE connectors and one floppy drive connector (Useless)...

2 x 32" cable with four SATA drive connectors

-The MoBo can take an 8-pin, or a 4+4 ... read the manual for specifics on what It "needs" versus what it can "take"
-Is 4 SATA enough ?
-The GFX card needs one 6 pin so OK there.

This is a great little case (Enthoo Pro M), with great performance for a crazy price and it comes in military green so it adds a little kick.
