NEEDS HELP

I need extreme help here.

Ive installed vista, and i had no problems...2 months later

i bought Battlefield 2, and is trying to apply the 1.50 patch (2 gigabyte setup file)
P.S The 1.41 patch (500 mb) took half an hour

So i double clicked the 1.41 patch and i waited half an hour until the installation screen finally showed up...i had this problem on the same computer on xp...ive noticed that if its a small file <100 mb file, it will load fast

but if its over 500 mb it will load on like half an hour...
i dont want the 2 gigs file to load up on like 3 hours....


i got 512 mb ram...can someone please help me...

I think the majority of your problem is the amount of ram that you have.
Vista should have at least 2G of memory to run efficiently.
I am sure that Vista alone is using the entire 512M of ram just for itself
and then having to use the page file for anything else that it is trying to do.

Using the page file is MUCH slower.

You can try to close all uneeded programs and end all uneeded services. That would help free up some resources. Though, I agree with Pat, 512mb isn't enough.
