I just built a new PC and at first it only detected one stick of RAM so I exchanged the Mobo and got it back yesterday, before I sent it out display port was working fine but now neither display port is working and only 3 of my 4 ram sticks are recognized, this is my first build so I could be doing something wrong, any suggestions?

There is a port who's name is actually "display port" vs "HDMI" or "VGA", etc. Thus the question must be asked, are you meaning Display Port as in the digital port with 1 diagonal and 1 straight side, or do you mean "display port" as in a generic sense of a port that outputs video?

Do you have the 24pin and 4/8pin CPU cables plugged into motherboard from yoru power supply?

Do you have a dedicated GPU (separate card) if so then is your monitor hooked up to its ports, or the motherboards?

Also, it would help greatly to know what parts you have (we need actual part numbers, things like "4 core cpu", "500w psu", etc are not helpful).

I mean display port like the port on my graphics card, the rectangle with a diagnal line. Im using hdmi at the moment, but I have a 144hz monitor thats only able to run @60hz over hdmi. I'm using a i7-6800k, MSI gaming pro x99a motherboard, a gtx 1070 strix oc edition, a evga g2 750w PSU, a corsair h115i and my ram is Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4) DDR4 DRAM 2133MHz. The computer is posting, and both motherboard power connectors are plugged in,

Are you sure it's not your displayport cable being broken maybe? (happened to me with an HDMI cable a couple weeks ago, thought it was my GPU, but tried another cable and it worked)

You're changing the monitors source/input to DP right?

Do you have any way to check if it's the monitor's DP that doesn't work?

The ram thing, try one stick individually in every slot, if all the sticks work in slot 1, try them all individually in slot 2, repeat ect. if one of the slots doesn't work, or only one of the ram sticks doesn't work, you know your culprit.

that's right, i haven't tested the big one (vga?) but both hdmi ports work and when i turn on my computer with just the diplay port connected my monitor turns on says no signal then turns back off. When i have them both connected my pc recognises two monitors in display settings, but dp still has no signal. before I exchanged my motherboard, the monitor and cable both worked on display port and 144hz.

The cable worked about a month ago before i sent my motherboard back out but it could of been damaged between then and now, its not likely but possilble, i'll try to see if bestbuy will let me use a dp cable without buying it just to see if its the cable, i don't know how to see if the monitor was damaged, but again it worked fine a month ago. and yes, i switched the source to dp. I have aida 64 (well. the cracked version) and it says dim 5 is empty, maybe i installed it wrong,
