Neither onboard or brand-new Gigabit PCI-E Ethernet adapter working

I have been using the integrated Gb Ethernet on my motherboard until last week, when it died. I posted a thread where someone suggested I purchase a PCI/PCI-E card. I am having the exact same issue with the card (a TP-LINK TG-3468). The drivers are installed correctly and there are no errors in Device Manager. However, even though the lights go on to indicate a connection (on both the integrated Ethernet and the card), there is no connection at all (network or Internet). When I right click on the network icon in the taskbar and select Troubleshoot Problems, it always says "There might be a problem with the Local Area Connection network adapter".

Thanks in advance,
Alex

have you installed properly the ethernet card in slots?check it very well. Now if its very ok, I suspect that your computer experience a hardware conflict, to resolve this problem first disable the onboard lan port using your BIOS, 2nd option try to transfer that ethernet card to other slots if available, 3rd you can check the performance of your card through the device manager, right click on the drivers under the networks adapters/click properties/then click resources/then check below if there are conflicting hardware in the list. If there are click the change settings button.

Thanks for your reply. I tried all of the steps and it still does not work. I am starting to wonder if it is my router that is acting up.
