.NET Framework 4.0 question.

I'm on a clean install. I'm trying to run a program called AS SSSD Benchmark, it's saying that I need .NET Framework 3.5 to run. I downloaded the newer Framework 4.0 but when trying to install it, it says Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is already part of this operating system. You don't need to install etc.

So why aren't some of my programs that require .NET working and requesting .NET be installed?

download 3.5. they are not the same

4.0 is for 4.0 and up.

Ok thanks. Will I need 4.0? Maybe 4.6.2?

if the software said it need 2.0- 3.5 download 3.5
need 4.0 and up download lastest 4.x
