.net framework registration utility has stopped working

I just noticed this today and have been unable to fix it, I have an alienware laptop and the CommandCenter program for managing my back lighting has worked fine until today. I went to run it and it failed to run, so I decided to reinstall the program... now whenever I try to install it I get the ".net framework registration utility has stopped working" message, when I show program details I get this:

Any Idea on how to fix it, I've tried reinstalling .net framework multiple times and the error persists

Which .NET framework did you try to re-install? Installing one does not install "all of them" - they are not cumulative.

This worked but surprisingly not entirely because of what the program did, it suggested I run a system restore which my laptop refuses to do unless I load into recovery tools command prompt and run a chkdsk on my C: and D: drives from there, my D: chkdsk came out fine and my chkdsk on C: was about 2-5 full screen command prompts, but it fixed the problem. Guess i'll stick to my simple solutions like chkdsk before re-installing next time.
