Hey I have a arris tg862g set up in my house and we are having constant problems with it when we will lose Internet and we will have to reset it and I can't play Xbox wirelessly and it is very slow.

So I went out and I bought a netgear r6200 and I set it up to the arris, but we are still having the same problems, so I took it off.

So I have come to the conclusion that basically the modem part of my gateway is having problems.

How can I get a new modem that I can use with Comcast and it will work good?

I will buy my own, if I have too if I can get something better than what Comcast is giving out these days.

I'm having a similar problem wherein the signal just cuts out for 20 or 30 seconds at a time. It's intermittent, but fairly frequent. Comcast has been out 5 times and they say there is no problem that they can see from their end, as their signal history appears uninterrupted/error free. Ideas?

I am having the same issue as Zman and Bobaloo. In my case, it seems unlikely that the problem is caused by the cables, as the coax line (RG6) is running directly to the modem. It is not split, and has only a single splice to get through the wall. I even bought a tester of my own, which showed no errors or faults with the line.

My question then, is could there be anything else causing this problem, other than the modem? Could it be the router? (I'm usung a Fry's FR-300RTR) Or maybe an issue with the lines out at the street?

Okay, thanks. I would not have expected the problem could be with the lines so far away. If its a problem as far out as equipment between the hubs, other people in the neighborhood would likely have the same problem, correct? The next door neighbors have Comcast, as far as I know. Maybe I should ask them. 😛 If they aren't having problems, it might be in the line from the street to the house. And of course it could still be with the modem itself.

In any event, it sounds like the problem is Comcasts fault, and basically they need to fess up and do something about it... (ugh, I hate them so much).
