I have a client who has a old Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ RND4000 that won't power on. There are 4 1TB hard drives in the NAS but I do not know what RAID config they are in nor does anyone in the company. I had tried to clean out all the dust, and removed all the hard drives but nothing will come on. I did notice that the power connector from the power supply to the board was the same as a 20 pin motherboard connector. I tried using a computer power supply but nothing would still power on. I am thinking of buying the same NAS en-closer and putting the hard drives in there. My only worry is will the new NAS see what that RAID configuration the hard drives were in? Or is there any other way to retrieve the data from the hard drives?

Your use of a foreign PSU based only on the shape of the plug was a very bad idea that may have drastically worsened your client's problem. :-( Please stop before you do more damage.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, then I could help you with some measurements. To this end I would need detailed photos of the NAS PCB and each of the HDD PCBs.

All the HHDs were removed before I tried another power supply. I do not have access to the NAS now but I do have access to a muiltmeter and I can get photos as well. The client is willing to buy another Netgear en-closer but I just need to know if the other en-closer will see the RAID array of the drives.

There are RAID/NAS experts at the HDD Guru forum. IMHO they would be the best people to ask, although they are not always inclined to help. I have electronics experience, but I fear that your troubleshooting may have rendered any PCB repair uneconomical. :-(
