I am having problem getting my Netgear WGR614v8 setup as an access point with my Linksys router. Below are the step I did with the results.

1) Hard reset of Netgear (Only connection was power)
2) Connected Netgear Lan port to my PC and ran http://www.routerlogin.com/CA_HiddenPage.htm and then disabled configuration assistant
3) ran 192.168.1.1 and went to Lan Settings and disabled DHCP and pressed on save.
4) went to Basic Settings and put in IP 192.168.1.99, Submask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1, DNS 75.75.75.75, alternate DNS 75.75.76.76
5) saved

At that point when I looked at the network map in Win 7 it shows the Netgear as 10.0.0.1

I also tried same as above but between steps 4 & 5 I connected a Lan connection from my Linksys router to a Lan connection on the Netgear but I still would up with the same problem of the Netgear showing 10.0.0.1

I would certainly appreciate any help you can provide

I am very confused, I received an email from forums@tomshardware.com which said that a response was posted but no Best Answer was selected. Of course there has been no response to the issue?????
