Oh, just remembered, I also created a notepad file with notworthy
information.
That and I imagine whoever replies first to this saying they would like
to be next is the next person to take over? That the fairest way??

I'm thinking a list of some sort should be created.... I don't check my
email constantly, but would like to know I'll get a turn eventually,
even if I'm #20 on the list.

If you have the Save game as of now Mark, perhaps start a new thread
named "Nethack Round Robin Sign Up" and posting to it will constitute a
person joining the list. Has the added bonus of being inherently
ordered. =) You can then send it to the first person to reply....
unless you've already sent it on... in which case whoever *currently*
has it should start the thread?

I would not only like to be next, I would love to - I may not be the
best player, but I have ascended once, and have around six games in
Gehenmon (too boring), so I may survive for 1000 turns.

I'd really like to see a forum or website of some sort for future
round-robin games.

Also as a future proposal, I think Sokoban should allow some extra turns
or something. If I spend 1000 turns pushing rocks, it's not terribly
interesting, but we don't want to deter people from completing it.

Along those lines, some sort of reward system may be cool, to encourage
tasks that are often useful-but-boring. For example, allow people to
play an extra 100 turns or so for each store they price-ID. It's still
entirely honor-based, of course, but it could add to the fun.

Oh, I was away from my mail last week-end (and I'll be away next two weeks
to), but I'd certainly be glad to YASD a game so many people patiently
build :) Well, I guess, I'll wait for the 'subscribe' thread to put in my
name...

By the way, what about some sort of 'concurent' version (while this one is
rather cooperative) in a way similar to scrabble tournaments:
Every player get the saved game and run it for 1000 turns. At this point,
the 'best' position is choosen among all the played game for the next
round (and, if wanted, players get point according to that).

Of course, there must be a way to evaluate how good a position is which is
certainly far from trivial (maybe a simple score calculation could be
sufficient but that will not take the luck (via RNG) into account).

Hypocoristiquement,
Jym.
