If you want to receive calls with audio and video, your router needs to
support the establishment of a DMZ. If this is the case, open the
router configuration tool and enter the private IP 192.168.xxx.yyy of
your Netmeeting PC in the place where a DMZ is set. To regain at least
some security on the Netmeeting PC, install on it a personal firewall
like Zonealarm and set its internet security to "medium".

Somewhere on the way between your internet service provider and your
computer, the public IP is transformed into a private IP 192.168.x.y.
In order to find out where, would you tell how you connect your
notebook to the internet, e.g.
by a telephone cable and an analogue modem,
or by a network cable to a network jack in a corporate LAN,
or by a network cable to a dsl-modem,
or by a network cable to a dsl-router,
or by the wireless network connection to a wireless router,
or ... ?

If you got the Verizon self-install kit
http://www22.verizon.com/forhomedsl/channels/dsl/self-install+kit.asp
for 1 computer only, I do not know the reason why you should get a
private IP address on your laptop.

If you ordered a solution for more than one computer, you presumably
got an additional wireless router
http://www22.verizon.com/forhomedsl/channels/dsl/micro/homenetworking/popup_products_router.aspDSL-modem ,
which needs configuration of a DMZ, as I said in my previous posting.
In this case, you best turn to Verizon tech support
http://www22.verizon.com/forhomedsl/channels/dsl/24x7+technical+support.asp.
