Network Adapter Causing Huge latency issues

Greetings,

I've been having the most unusual, nerve-wrecking experience these past few days so I could really use some help. I am an avid Diablo 3 player and the expansion has been exceptionally demanding. As you may already know, Diablo 3 is always online so having lags completely kills the game. Unfortunately, that's the main problem. I keep having these weird latency issues - huge fluctuations going from 82 ms to several thousand in mere seconds.

I tried the usual - reset the router, updated the network drivers, sent Blizzard the DXDiag, MSconfig and other logs from my computer... nothing worked. At first I thought it was the ISP. However, after careful monitoring it seems my computer is the only one having difficulties with lag (i have several devices and laptops on the wireless network - no lag whatsoever).

Then I noticed an error message pops up every now and then stating I have network problems or no internet connection at all - while still being able to browse the net. WTF!?

I am at a complete loss. I have no prior knowledge of actually changing the network adapter and how it works so I would humbly ask for some assistance.

Regards,
Milko

Connection to my computer is via standard network cable. The rest of the devices (tablets, cellphones, laptops are all using wireless connection). I can't really try putting the line directly in my PC's network port since my ISP provided some weird router/modem and it has to go through it.

Note that no other device has the issue - only my computer. Tried contacting the ISP to see if they can track the issue on their end, however, the router/modem seems to be working just fine, so it has to be from my end. Should I try replacing the network adapter or something?

To be honest, I've had this setup for several years now and I had zero issues with lag. The devices connected on the network aren't always on (they're actually off when I am playing at night).

I played Diablo 3 with a rock solid 80ms for 2 years and this is the first time I've had this issue so I doubt game booster is going to help.

I might try and reinstall all drivers for the network and if that fails, a complete format.
