Adapter not working ?
Hard to say, do you see it in Device Manager? Are you able to connect to any network? Do you see any icon on the bottom right hand of your screen with a a dot and quadrants?

Please include the SKU to your Dell Inspiron 17 convertible laptop. Can you check and see what OS version you're on at the time of writing? Right click on Start>left click on System, you should see the version listed at the bottom of the new windows. Also, use CPU-Z to show you what your BIOS version is at the moment.

You can find networking drivers for your laptop using your laptop's model number in Dell's support portal, then scrolling down to the networking section. Manually install your networking drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.
